Fundamentally Happy is the first film they co-directed together. Tan is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents, Rotterdam Lab and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs. Lei was conferred the Young Artist Award in 2012 by the National Arts Council, Singapore’s highest award for young arts practitioner.
Fundamentally Happy was successfully staged in Malaysia, in 2007, at Actor’s Studio in Bangsar, that has since moved to Lot 10 in Bukit Bintang. Fundamentally Happy won the highest honours in Singapore theatre in 2007 when it was awarded Best Production and Best Script at the Life! Theare Awards.
